44th Durangoko Liburu eta Disko Azoka book and disc fair will take place between 4th and 8th December. This fair is a massive and inescapable appointment with culture in the Basque Country. GETXOPHOTO will be there with its catalog in the stand of The Balde magazine, collaborator and friend of the festival.

Getxoarte Emerging Arts Exhibition celebrates its eighth edition with a clear objective: to foster and encourage artistic creativity in Basque Country. We will have our own stand. Between 4th and 6th December, from 11.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 21.30 in “Station Square” in Las Arenas.

The 35th edition of Huelva IberoAmerican Film Festival will host on 16, 17 and 18 November, the Third International Meeting of the Ibero-American Critics. In this framework and under the title “The triumph of the ingenuity above the shortage of resources,” we have been invited to present GETXOPHOTO as one of the cultural projects in these working groups.

For the second year running GETXOPHOTO goes on tour and shows at the University of Basque Country until 30 November, six exhibitions which were in the latest edition of the Festival. Furthermore, Alejandro Castellote and Susana Iturrioz gave two lectures on Asian photography at the Faculty of Fine Arts.

GETXOPHOTO + Emaús, join forces

Among projects that are made byGETXOPHOTO, environmental sustainability is promoted through recycling the pictures printed in canvas and the recruitment of people with access difficulties to the job market that are the ones in charge to make these recycled items. These goals are shared, developed and promoted for years by Emaús Bizkaia, foundation dedicated to promoting these values.

For this reason, Emaús and GETXOPHOTO join forces and begin this collaboration through Biziprest Program, the bicycle hire service of Getxo Town Council, run by Emaús. This service commitment for a sustainable mobility system and facilitates the inclusion of people in the process of social integration.

The Taiwanese author, who was in Getxo during the Festival, has donated 10 signed catalogues of his exhibition Stages to GETXOPHOTO. When Shen Chao-Liang knew that the project Recycling GETXOPHOTO was a solidary project he demonstrated his interest to take part in it. His photographies have been exposed in paper and therefore they cannot be retrained, for what he did the donation to contribuye with this social project.

Recycling GETXOPHOTO

GETXOPHOTO recycles the photographies printed in canvas exhibited during the Festival. Remnants of images of renowned authors will be tourned into original and unique pieces due to the origin (purses, aprons …). People with difficulties to the job market are the ones in charge to make these items, this year by Social Emaús Fundación. The benefits got with the sale will be addressed to ATFAL, the Getxo Pro-Sáhara organization. It is therefore a project of marked social character so the cooperation of the photographers taking part in GETXOPHOTO is Essentials for its development.
