Press stop in your head for a while and press play in your body: this is what editor Verónica Fieiras proposes with Leve, a project which is part of the annual collaboration between Getxophoto and the Kutxa Fundazioa Fototeka.
In a society that puts our mind at the centre of everything, Leve invites us to recover our body as a place of refuge, a protective nest from which to let imagination fly – such an essential ability for life and for play – and dream of a world which is a little lighter. A moment of repair and self-care, where play is perceived as an act of resistance that turns the body into a channel for action. Fieiras’ work shows archive images of people diving accompanied by a musical selection that is ideal for making the mind go blank: the suspension of these bodies, protagonists of a moment from the past, make a hypnotic movement, a visual mantra that induces us to our own contemplative journey.
The final result is a series of limited edition records produced especially for the Festival. Let your mind go and let yourself levitate.
